こんいちはみなさん! I’ve been looking at everyone’s itineraries and it’s been helpful!
I’d like some help with my solo female traveler itinerary. I have only booked the flights, nothing else yet. About me:
– I’m a very laid-back, type B traveller
– Not a big shopper
– Anime fan (okay just DBZ tbh I’m psycho for DBZ) but not into anime merch
– Don’t care much about amusement parks (ex. Disney, Nintendo World) or popular attractions like the ghibli museum or aquariums.
– I don’t eat meat (I’m pescatarian) and I don’t drink so activities that involve meat and alcohol are a no. But I LOVE food and fish and want to eat and drink as much as possible!
– I want to absorb as much Japanese as possible (it’s just fun being able to read a sign here or there. I know hiragana, katakana, and some kanji).
– I love walking and exploring
– I love nature, flowers, bridges, etc.
– I am planning on keeping an art journal where I pause and quickly sketch what I see at various places (this will be my main souvenier)
– I am insane for tea and sushi
Here is my itinerary:
TOKYO
– May 14th: Arrive Haneda ~4:00PM. Stay in Ueno or Asakusa. Adjust, rest, relax.
– May 15th: Shinjuku, Shibuya, walk around/explore/eat
– May 16th: Fish market, asakusa, akihabra
– May 17th: Kamakura day trip
KYOTO
– May 18th: Shinkansen to Kyoto, explore Gion
– May 19th: Arashiyama
– May 20th: Fushimi Inari, more exploring
– May 21st: ??? More exploring Kyoto?
OSAKA
– May 22nd: Shinaknsen to Osaka, explore Namba, Shonen Jump shop
– May 23rd: Uji (?), meet with friend
– May 24th: Nara day trip
– May 25th: Cup noodle museum, ??
TOKYO
– May 26th: Shinkansen to Yokohama station, explore area
– May 27th: Yokohama English garden (?), prepare for flight, go to Haneda, flight leaves 6:00PM from Haneda
I feel too much of my itinerary is empty and I might be bored or lost, not sure what to do. The problem is I just don’t know what there IS to do despite doing a lot of research. And planning shrines to a T feels overly type A especially because I wouldn’t know how to pick one shrine over another. Any suggestions are helpful!
Lastly, I’m an android user with an unlocked phone. Any suggestions for a PHYSICAL SIM would be helpful!
ありがとうございます!

You are not going to be bored at all. Most of Japan is lovely for sketching. I might suggest, however, picking up a small collapsing stool (many of which can be had for about US$10 or so), as there are not many public benches in the most popular or scenic places in Tokyo or Yokohama. If you have a place to sit, you’ll have a much easier time sketching.
Why only a physical sim and not an e-sim? E-sim was fantastic. I could use it right off the plane and it was $17 for 10GB with Ubigi
Is there a specific reason you have Uji for the 23rd? I’d prefer to go to Uji from Kyoto (30-40 minutes instead of one hour + from Osaka) so you may want to move that to the 21st
