To future GABA teachers!

Read this before entering GABA! To those anyone in GABA or planning to join GABA.

Make sure you ask about the QIL as well. It’s utter BS to tell us to join it. You will lose money, not earn money.

It’s a POSSIBLE 250,000 yen a month. You definitely earn less than that and believe me, they will suck you dry. Don’t let them trick you!

You ave to pay your own insurance, pension, and commute. They will not pay for anything for you.

  1. These “new” GABA policies are ones that NOVA has had for years. Now that NOVA and GABA ate one, we can see who the strongest side was.

  2. I know it’s an easy ticket to Japan but please, please don’t join these companies and just let them die.
As much as I shit on the industry and couldn’t be more happy to be out of I have to admit that there are a LOT of private eikaiwa that might be shitty but at LEAST guarantee a salary and won’t tear you apart.

  3. … could they not have found a better picture for the article? This one is a meme waiting to happen.

  4. Don’t apply for Nova either. They have the same fine system, but worse for ‘independent contractors’. If you’re an employee, yes you will get insurance and pension, but you also probably won’t even make 200,000 a month.

  5. The salaries promised are straight up lies. You have to work from morning to night, on weekends and holidays, to make that now. The scale used to pay higher wages per lesson is made to force you to work a certain schedule dictated by the company. It’s no good.

  6. All of the up to ¥**** ads and salary negotiable are BS. Most places. Most of them even if you worked 6-7 days a week you couldn’t earn the advertised salary and negotiations never come up. For Nova there weren’t any overtime incentives you just got paid the same rate for working extra hours. At least some other places would give you time and a half or another kind of pay bonus for working the extra overtime.
