Japanese Student Visa Question

Hi, I’m Michael from the United States. I’m here to ask about a problem obtaining my visa. So to start, my student visa information arrived at my nearest Japanese consulate general by mail on the 21st of November, granted they weren’t open on thanksgiving or the day after. With all that in mind it’s currently the 9th work day since they have obtained my passport and other essential information for them to give me my student visa. I can’t find out the status of my visa as you have to do that in person. But I’m almost 99 percent sure it arrived with the correct address(I checked many times). Why is this taking them so long? And when should I be worried? Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them? As I leave for Japan at the end of December! I’m only worried right now as they said it would take 5-7 of processing since it’s(my packages) arrival. I’d appreciate anyone’s comment on the matter! Thank you!! Have a good day!

  2. While no one can say with any certainty, I’m sure you’ll be fine. If they needed additional documents they’d have asked you for them already. They’ve probably just got a larger than normal workload and lower than usual staffing.
