heat setting for bathtub, kitchen sinks?

Does it cost more if I accidentally leave the heat setting on the bathtub and kitchen sink on high?

If I’m away, should I turn the heat setting for thekitchen sink at the lowest setting?

  1. I would imagine that it requires more energy to heat the water to a higher temperature. Regardless of temp, to save money we leave our hot water turned off unless we’re actively using it (as we aren’t in a place where pipes might freeze)

  2. Most if not all heaters in Japan are instant. Meaning, it will only start heating up when the pipe is turned on/ water is running. So no electricity is used if the pipe is not running and or is set to cold.
Higher temps mean more energy used though.
