Surgery went wrong at St Luke’s hospital, what to do

Took my baby at St Luke’s earlier in the week for a minor tongue tie issue. Should have been a simple procedure using a laser instrument. General anesthesia was required.
The pediatric doctor was the supervising doctor, leading a team of 3 other training doctors. One of the training doctor performed the surgery. The tongue tie issue was resolved, but baby came out with a white blister on the side of the lips about 3mm wide.
The supervising pediatric doctor explained there was an accident where one training doctor who did the surgery accidentally zapped the lips without knowing the laser was on, causing a burn mark.
My wife and I has been quite annoyed by this. I asked for a statement from the doctor explaining how the accident happened. He said it should heal in on to two weeks and to monitor the progress. Anl steroid ointment cream was given to treat the burn.
A day later the blister fell off, kind of like a small rubbery flesh that we didn’t know what it was at the time of bathing the baby.
There is now a small dent in the lips where the blister was.
I do not think this will heal in one to two weeks as it’s further than skin deep. We are quite worried this will leave a permanent scar.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Seek compensation? Legal advice? We have plenty of photos before and after the surgery.
