What’s a good present to bring to my teachers’ Christmas Party.

Context: My school is holding a Christmas/“end of the year” party for the teachers at a nice looking venue in Ginza somewhere. I was told everyone is expected to bring a present, something about 1000yen. What kind of present would be appreciated for this sort of thing? And also, what would be a good message to write on the note I need to attach? It’s not going to have my name or anything, so it needs to be something kind of generic and in Japanese, what would be an appropriate Japanese message to write on it?

  1. A brand name hand towel or lotion, major department stores usually have a section with small gifts like this .

  2. I did a bunch of small things that might be useful or decorative from 100yen shop before. It was fun put it all in a nice bag from there too.

  3. Thanks for asking. I’m attending a 忘年会 and have been asked to do the same. I have no idea what the b’ys plan to bring and all advice has been vague AF.

Sorry to piggyback, but is booze OK? I’m a big fan of craft beer and thought I might offer a can of something real choice.

  4. Possible to get something from your home country on short notice? Might be enjoyable to give a gift of something you like with a back story
