They have corporate entities in Japan.. it is Google Japan which is a child company of Google. Sounds like a misunderstanding.

This article needs more context. I know for a fact that many of the companies mentioned operate in Japan as GK entities.
Sounds like the Japanese government wants to exercise greater control over international Tech companies with this new law and nobody is having it.
What’s the point of making a public threat?
Look up who they are and send them a notice to do whatever is required by law just like any other form of compliance.
