  1. I know that the pronunciation of this 何 (Nani or Nan), but how would I know what it is when it’s combined with other hiragana?

For example, it could also be pronounced ど like from dono or it becomes an ‘u’ in ‘doushite’.

I know Onyomi and kunyomi pronunciations, how do I know the different pronunciations for this kanji?

  2. I’m particularly struggling to understand what the 攻めた and 買う mean in this sentence: 常に攻めた作風なのは買うけどね. In the dictionary, 攻める can also be used to refer to something “edgy/bold” in English, while 買う can also mean to “value/think highly of”? Or is the 買う just referring to simply “purchase/buy”…?

  3. Should I use 浸漬 or 没入 to describe the immersion learning process? I’m a bit confused on the dissection of the kanji used in both of the words as well. I know the kanji individually don’t have to make sense but soaking + pickle and death + enter seem like weird kanji combinations to describe immersion lol.

  4. In Genki 1, and I’m lost before I began. The first section lists a series of common greetings, then challenges the reader to use them. Am I supposed to have them memorized already? Am I supposed to know all the Hiragana and Katakana at this point? Am I supposed to spend time just repeating these phrases in my head until they stick? I don’t understand how I’m supposed to *learn* the content when its just a list of words or phrases. The book doesn’t explain what I’m supposed to do.

  5. Tips and tricks for inferring the meaning of 今度 from context? How am I supposed to know if they mean this time or next time if it’s ambiguous?

  6. 短い質問があります。what is 可能形 + そう?例えば「勇気出せそうですか?」上に「田中君。。。頑張れそう?」
