Hiking recommendation Mount Tsurugi, Toyama

Not sure which subreddit is the best for this question ( r/hiking ? r/japanlife ?).

I am currently in Takaoka. Tomorrow (2024-09-23) morning I'll be going to Murodo, and hike to Mount Tateyama (3015m), continue to Kenzan-so Mountain hut and stay there over night.

Next morning (2024-09-24) ascent to Summit of Mount Tsurugi (2999m) for sunrise possibly.

What I'd like to ask are recommendations for descend options, I am flexible. ATM I'm a bit confused what there is a Murodo Terminal.

  • (A) Go back to Murodo, and head back to Toyama
  • (B) Go back to Murodo, and use the .. Tunnel Bus and Tateyama Ropeway, and more to get to Kurobe Dam, and to … Shinano-ÅŒmachi? (source: https://www.alpen-route.com/en/transport/modes.html ), This sounds crazy and fun
  • (C) Do not go back to Murodo, but descend from Mt Tsurugi via Tsurugi-dake Hayatsuki-koya North-West to Kazokunomorichuokanri ? Car required from Banbajima
  • (D) Go back to Murodo, get to Kurobe Dam, and hike from there to … Kurobe Gorge? I think theres not enough time to prepare for this option. The next hut (Asohara Onsen-goya ?) is like 15k in. Seems to be called the Shimono corridor . This route is currently closed. Wow this looks crazy: https://www.allthepeaks.com/post/shimono-roka-toyama

Some Points:

  • Luggage Storage: I need to store my stuff, here in Takaoka, or maybe Murodo Terminal (Coin Lockers)?
  • I have no next destination yet, nothing booked at least.
  • I do have a tent etc. with me but I'd prefer to travel light. Probably missing out on some experiences though.
  • I want to hike Mount Yari -> Hotaka-dake next (was waiting for better weather), from Kamikochi, or from Shin-Hotaka Onsen, or from Hotaka via Nakabusa Onsen via Panorama Ginza Route (needs good weather for several days)
  • I'm a solo traveler – so maybe no hiking options that are too crazy / risky

Thanks for any input
